CS Event Management

Saskatchewan Music Conference

Benchmark Public Relations has been chosen as the event organizer for five Saskatchewan Music Conferences (two in Saskatoon and two in Regina). This event is hosted by the Saskatchewan Choral Federation, Saskatchewan Band Association, Saskatchewan Music Educators Association, Saskatchewan Orchestral Association, and the Saskatchewan Music Festivals Association. This three-day conference features more than 30 workshops with presenters from across Canada and the United States, a luncheon concert, tradeshow, and evening awards banquet. Approximately 300 people attend the conference each year, and Benchmark administers all aspects of the conference on behalf of a volunteer working group of the five organizations.

This is an extremely challenging undertaking as our team is responsible for securing sponsorships, managing the trade show, making arrangements for all presenters, administering the registration, and ensuring that all music equipment (choral, band, and orchestra) are in the designated rooms at the appropriate times.  Benchmark develops a detailed questionnaire and comprehensive final report after the event. Our staff also attends a conference debriefing session the day after the conference to make recommendations for the following year.

Trade Team Saskatchewan

Benchmark Public Relations was chosen to organize the Broaden Your Borders international trade mission into the United States. This was an educational trade mission led by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade to demonstrate to fledgling exporters how international trade is conducted. We provided all the logistical, administration and marketing support for this event.

These trade missions featured a chartered bus, which left from Regina and stopped in North Portal to hear presentations from security personnel on both sides of the border. The mission continued into the United States and featured stops at a warehouse and distribution facility, and a sponsored welcoming reception featuring the local Chamber of Commerce president, Minot mayor, Honourary Consul, and local Senator. The next day featured presentations on international marketing, legal requirements, custom brokers, and opportunities in the American mid-west market. Representatives from the Canadian consulate in Minneapolis were on hand to discuss services available from the federal government.
